A unique star-studded concept album, and concert piece, recorded in both English and Spanish depicting Yeston’s impressionistic musical biography of the Spanish painter Francisco Goya – from his ground breaking Romantic art, his loves, his acerbic and devastating critique of Spain’s corrupt royal regime, to his anti-war paintings and etchings, his madness and his legacy, written for and at the request of Placido Domingo.

“No one on Broadway since Leonard Bernstein has merged together different styles quite like Yeston does. Like Bernstein, Yeston, the composer and lyricist of the Tony Award-winning musical “Nine,” is a composer with one foot in the world of serious music, the other on the Broadway stage.”
- Mark Swed, Los Angeles Times
Unique to musical theater, the songs themselves musically paint and depict individual masterpiece paintings and etchings by Goya that all on their own constitute and illustrate his extraordinary biography, his revolutionary politics of the Enlightenment and his genius.
Introducing the hit song Till I Loved You (subsequently recorded by Barbra Streisand, and in Spanish by Gloria Estefan) the album features in addition to Gloria: Placido Domingo, Dionne Warwick, Richie Havens, and the New York Philharmonic orchestra and was produced by Phil Ramone.
