Anything Can Happen in the Theater

The Musical World of Maury Yeston

A New Musical Revue conceived and directed by Gerard Alessandrini premiering in March 2020 at Manhattan’s York Theater Company, filled with many of Yeston’s comic company numbers, heartfelt ballads, duets and trios. In her review, Elisabeth Vincentelli of The New York Times declared “the forlorn elegance of ‘A Man Like You/Unusual Way’ works perfectly outside of ‘Nine.’ As with Yeston’s best songs, its deceiving simplicity feels inevitable” and “its closing song, ‘Home’, is among the most beautiful of the last 30 years - its ineffable melancholy is sublime.”

Starring five brilliant talents - Alex Getlin, Mamie Parris, Jovan E’Sean, Benjamin Eakeley and Justin Keyes.Accompanied by Greg Jarrett and choreographed by Gerry McIntyre, the 21 songs and production numbers were culled by Alessandrini from among his favorites of the Yeston catalog - eight of which are original Yeston songs from projects never before seen onstage or recorded.

The Revue is now available for license, and scheduled to open in London. A Cast Album, with orchestrations for an eight piece ensemble by Doug Besterman, was recorded on the PS Classics label, produced by Bart Migal, and released April 03, 2020.
