One of the four great Haiku masters, Kobayashi Issa wrote over 22,000 Haikus during his lifetime, yet no one has ever solved the mystery of the Ten-Year Gap in his biography. From 1777 to 1787 (from ages 14 to 24) he utterly disappeared. Nothing is known of him or his whereabouts during that time!
